Renovations, upgrades and accessible rooms – it’s all happening at Gleesons these days. Ahead of their 35th birthday Gleesons are super busy with bedroom renovations which are being carried out on a phased basis, and developing brand new accessible rooms to the rear of the property.
Keeping guest comfort, experience and needs to the fore, Gleesons are taking massive strides in providing the best guest house experience possible. Rooms are being tastefully renovated, in keeping with the style and features of the period property, while providing guests with modern day amenities and comforts. General manager Cait has taken on the role of project manager (along with wearing many other caps) and is leading a team to deliver the best finish possible. The whole team excited about showing off the finished bedrooms ahead of the big 35th anniversary celebrations in July. Watch this space for updates!
Creating new accessible rooms is a longer process as they are being built from scratch. Th block work is underway now, and the vision is beginning to come to life. These suites will have a minimal carbon footprint and will be as sustainable as possible providing a comfortable and fully accessible stay for guests. As the original house is a period property, it’s not possible to put in a lift so these rooms will be ideal for older guests or those who find stairs challenging.
The aim is for Gleesons to be universally accessible and to create barrier-free tourism so everyone can come and stay. The Accessible Tourism category is already 25% of the overall tourism market, and the segment is growing as the population ages so these rooms are definitely going to be popular.
