We are thrilled to have been listed by Jillian Bolger in the Irish Independent last week as one of ten restaurants and pubs where you can stay overnight in Ireland. The list appeared in the popular Saturday Weekend Magazine and included luminaries such as Lagom in Kenmare and the well-known seafood restaurant The King Sitric in Howth.
It’s true. We really do love dogs and are happy to welcome them to stay; we often have a well behaved dog or two in residence. A weekend in early April took us by surprise though when no less than five handsome and well behaved dogs checked in with their owners. That was totally unprecedented and then we discovered why - they were taking part in the dog show at Roscommon Racecourse.
We hope everyone had a great weekend at Roscommon Easter Festival 2022. Well done to the organisers for a fantastic weekend of music, entertainment and the parade. It was a great celebration of the 50th year of Roscommon’s Easter Parade and also 100 years since the establishment of An Garda Síochána.

The Gold Medal Awards have just announced Gleesons Townhouse as a finalist in the 2022 Awards in the Ireland’s Country House and Guest House Experience category. Other finalists in our category include none other than Ballymaloe House and Castle Leslie Estate.
Eamonn and Mary spoke to Dan Dooner, Roscommon People about the future of Gleesons, how we adapted during the pandemic and developed over the years.
Roscommon is home to Kings and Castles, incredible archaeological sites and historical ruins that would make anyone stop and gaze in awe of these monumental sites that are so unique to Roscommon. Roscommon was named after Coman mac Faelchon who had come to Roscommon and built a monastery in the 5th century on the east bank of the River Suck, at a wood (ros) which was called after him (Ros Comain).
The festive season is upon us, Christmas markets, celebrations, shopping and catching up with friends and family. Roscommon has everything one might need this December, independent retailers, food stalls and great entertainment.
