It’s true. We really do love dogs and are happy to welcome them to stay; we often have a well behaved dog or two in residence. A weekend in early April took us by surprise though when no less than five handsome and well behaved dogs checked in with their owners. That was totally unprecedented and then we discovered why – they were taking part in the dog show at Roscommon Racecourse.
In the usual course of things, our furry visitors are just on holiday with their owner or families and they enjoy staying somewhere that pets are genuinely welcome. At Gleesons the dogs sleep in the same room as their owners, in their own beds of course. We welcome them into the public areas with the exception of the restaurant. If guests would like to have their dogs with them while they dine, we will happily serve them in our comfortable reception area.
We always have bowls of fresh water outside so you don’t need to worry about organising water for your dog. For exercise, Loughnaneane Park is a short walk away. It’s 14 acres of parkland, a pond and the fascinating ruins of Roscommon Castle as well as a playground.
We don’t charge anything extra for your dog when you stay with us, they are a welcome addition to our hotel. All we ask is that they behave themselves – and we ask that of everyone who stays!
