We are delighted to be the first business in Roscommon to register for the new Stay and Spend initiative. We welcome this government scheme as it aims to support the hospitality sector by stimulating business and encouraging people to begin spending again. It will run until Spring 2021 and we hope people will avail of it and help the hospitality sector which has been so severely impacted by COVID-19.

The scheme operates through a new Revenue Receipts Tracker mobile app and taxpayers can get up to €125 back when they spend €625 in a registered business.

The Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe recognised the challenge faced by hotels, restaurants, pubs and cafés, saying, “The hospitality sector has been particularly badly hit as a result of the necessary public health restrictions put in place to tackle COVID-19. The sector is vital to the Irish economy and accounts for over 10% of the country’s workforce. The purpose of the Stay and Spend scheme is to support this sector.”

We took advantage of the enforced closure earlier in the year to renovate and refurbish The Manse Restaurant, Gleesons Café and the reception area. We are delighted to let all our loyal customers and visitors know that the entire building has been reorganised to meet and exceed Covid-19 requirements. Last month we won a TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award which put us in the top 10% of hotels worldwide. TripAdvisor is the biggest travel review website in the world with a staggering 200 million user reviews.

We look forward to welcoming you to Gleesons this Autumn
