We would like to congratulate the Roscommon Town Christmas Lights Committee and commend them on all the work put in for the ‘Switching On’ of the festive lighting on Sunday 27th November. As an eco-friendly measure and in response to the ever-increasing energy costs, the committee enacted a plan for smart consumption of electricity. Every single lightbulb has been replaced with a smart LED bulb, reducing the electricity required by an astounding 75%. The lights display on Main Street have been entirely replaced this year, to further enhance the town centre. As an additional energy saving measure, the hours the Christmas Lights are lit are slightly reduced.
The lights looked wonderful and really made this year’s Christmas Festival weekend on December 10th & 11th as the town welcomed lots of visitors to the festival to enjoy a lovely festive celebration with Christmas Markets and food stalls as well as music and street performances. We would like to thank everyone who stopped by our stall outside the gates of Gleesons for delicious hot chocolate, mulled wine, Christmas punch & baileys hot chocolate from Cáit.
From all of us at Gleesons we hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
